Phyllis Brooks Collins is founding director and Assistant Professor of the Integrated Studies program in the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Delaware State University. She is the former Executive Director for Academic Enrichment at Delaware State University. She has worked in the area of Enrollment Management for twenty (20) years with a focus on student success and retention. Ms. Brooks Collins is a doctoral candidate at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Organizational Leadership with a projected graduation dates of December 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Technology and a Masters of Arts in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from Delaware State University.
With over twenty years of administrative and management experience in higher education and non-profit management, Ms. Brooks Collins has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in developing student success programs in the areas of retention, student learning, academic support services, and academic advisement. As the former executive director of the division of Academic Enrichment, she provided innovative leadership and administrative management over the divisions’ programs and activities. In this role, she implemented a variety of academic programming and best practices to enrich and support undergraduate learning, increase persistence, retention and completion rates of students.
Ms. Brooks Collins is a member of several national, state, and local organizations and committees to include: the Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization Public Advisory Board, the Town of Wyoming Planning and Zoning Committee, Association of Institutional Researchers. The International Leadership Association, the International Mentoring Association, the National College Testing Association, the American Association of University Women, and the HBCU Regional Summit on Retention Steering Committee. She has served on numerous past organizations specifically, the State of Delaware Board of Examiners for Physical Therapy, the Delaware State Parents Association and the Kent County Extension Advisory Board.
